 any people say that Syros is Ermoupoli.This is not true! The island has a lot of interests for the visitor and is very easy to captivate anyone with its charming. But first of all a visit in Ermoupoli is a "must". Ermoupoli is an exceptional beautiful town. Its architecture is monumental in aspect. It has a unique architectural style, influenced by romantic Classicism and with an admixture of Western features.

 he Archaeological Museum, whose exhibits are mainly from the prehistoric period, is certainly worth a visit.The medieval quarter of the town is "Ano Syros".This quarter was built in the 13th century by the Venetians on the hill to the left; this accounts for the fact that the majority of the inhabitants are today Roman Catholics. The top of the hill is dominated by the Cathedral of St. George. Still standing are the Capuchin convent with the church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (18th cenmtury).The view from Ano Syros is magnificent.

After 8 km. from Ermoupoli we arrive in Vari, a seaside village in a beautiful bay, and after that, we arrive in Megas Yialos, a fine beach with full tourist facilities. Next to it we meet Angathopes, Poseidonia(Delagratsia), and Finikas. These are tourist resorts with very fine beaches in attractive bays with islets.Of these, Finikas is quite large.
