MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE - SKIATHOS ISLAND

kiathos is one of the most beautiful islands in Greece. Upon first seeing it visitors must think: "how can such a small island have all this beauty?". When you are getting to know the island, first of all, you have to pay a visit to its picturesque and cosmopolitan Chora.

uring the day, you can enjoy a hanging around into its narrow alleys, which are filled with vitality every summer. Here you have a lot of things to see and to do. You can visit for example the lovely small peninsula Bourtzi, situated between the two harbors of Chora plenty of pine trees and the ruins of a wall of an old castle. Or you can visit one of the beautiful churches here, like the impressive Treis Ierarches, the cathedral church in the upper part of the town. You can either enjoy your lunch or your dinner in one of the fine tavernas.

nd of course Skiathos means beaches. Actually, Skiathos has some of the best beaches in Greece. Near Chora, is the settlement of Ftelia and the fine beach Megali Ammos. In 4 km from Chora, you approach Achladies, a small bay with one of the finest sand beaches on the island.

fter a while, you are in a more enclosed bay named Tzaneries with a fine beach and finally, after 11 km from Chora, you arrive in the world famous beach Koukounaries. Koukounaries, is by far the best beach on the island and is considered the most beautiful in Greece. It is shaped like a horseshoe and has golden sands surrounded by lofty and deep green pine trees. A stream flows past the beginning of the sand and a small bridge connects you to the marvelous beach. Behind the pine forest, a lake completes this site of rare beauty.

t the eastern part is the clothing optional beach of Banana, and the beaches Krassa and Ayia Eleni and north, after a dense pine forest, the exotic Mandraki with its high sand dunes which end in a steep descent to the sea. And last, but not least, in the northern part of the island, is the famous Lalaria, an impressive beach with white, round pebbles of various sizes. At its end, a rock forms a bridge over the emerald water of the sea. A piece of paradise in the Eastern Mediterranean is waiting for you!
