hirty hotels and inns offer a capacity of about 4.000 beds. The tourist development of the area, which was before composed by some scattered villas and two fish taverns, began in 1988. Since then the area went on with a rapid development, so that today everyone can talk about a completely new success. The increasing demand, coming from the biggest European Tour Operators, traces out an optimistic picture for the future. A big number of restaurants, cafes, tourist shops and discotheques contribute so that the visitor will never feel bored. Colymbia has a fresh and simultaneously dry climate (it does not always happen in Rhodes) a lot of vegetation and crystal-clear fresh spring's water- which is being driven to the sea through an open ditch- along the shadowy Eucalyptus Street. The area during the Italian colonization was inhabited by farmers who were planting vegetables and fruits. One can still observe some Italian houses with columns.

We can find a lot of sea sports at the beaches. Buses and other kind of transportation connect Colymbia with the Rhodes City and Lindos along with many other areas of the Island. |

Another special theme which is worth to be mentioned about is the 18 holes Golf course of Afandou City which one can reach it within 2 kilometers of driving. Not very far from the area are located the two cities of Afandou and Arhangelos where the visitors can find original traditional country life and taverns. Also some local fabrics which are still creating handmade ceramics and colourful carpets. |
![]() he visitors of Colymbia come mostly from Germany, England, Italy, Belgium and Switzerland. Many Greeks from the mainland visit the area when they seek to run away for the city stress. Subject of reference is the situation that is not comprehensible to the Mediterranean countries. The effort against the noises, especially at the hours of night is achieved here with a big success.
