The island can be reached by air from Athens and by ferry from Piraeus and Rafina (on the east cast of Attica), with large, modern passenger and car ferries. Some services go directly to the island and others make previous stops at Paros, Ios, Santorini and Tinos. There are regular- though not daily- sailings for the other Cycladic islands and for Herakleio in Crete. In the summer there are local sailings for the smaller islands of the Eastern Cyclades (Koufonisia, Irakleia, Donousa). |
