Island's beaches
Ayia Anna's beach
O ne of the principal glories of Naxos is its long beaches with their crystal- clear water and golden sand, which will explain why so many tourists choose the island each year.
There is a wide choice of beaches, from those which are only sandy and perhaps have cedar trees growing along the shoreline to those which have pebbles mixed in with the sand, from calm and windless coves to more exposed beaches where the north wind makes wind- surfing a thrilling pleasure.
Vigla beach

Ayios Georgios beach Starting from Ayios Yeorgios, a once neighbouring village to Chora and now part of it, one may embark upon a tour of the countless beaches of Naxos, with their golden sands. The ones at the western coast have one great advantage: however strong the wind may be elsewere, here it is always calm.

The road to Ayios Prokopios leads to an unforgettable beach, followed by Ayia Anna at the next cove.
The beach of Plaka is the continuation of the Ayia Anna and Ayios Prokopios beaches.
Vigla beach

Ayios Prokopios beach This fine beach goes on to Orkos, Parthenos, Vigla, Kastraki, Alykos and Pyrgaki; mile upon mile of sandy beach.mile upon mile of sandy beach. The particular features of the beach at Alyko and Pyrgaki is that scrut grows in the sand.
From the other beaches of island we suggest Ayiasos with its calm waters if when the north winds are howling, Azalas, a beach close to Moutsouna which is famous for its pebbles, and Kleidos, one of the prettiest beaches in southeastern Naxos.
