Continuing your tour along the side of the harbor and after passing a small park you will pass by the church of St. Spiridonas, the oldest and most historic church in the town. Then you will head for the exhibition halls of the Port Authority of Piraeus | |
| where large commercial exhibitions are regularly held. Directly opposite is the church of St.Nicholas, patron saint of sailors everywhere. You are now on Akti Miaouli, the main thoroughfare along the waterfront, where most of the shipping offices and agencies are located. At strategic points along this boulevard the Port Authority of Piraeus has created passenger terminals where travelers can get the information on the schedules of passenger ships and the embarkation points. | ||
At last a visit to the Archaeological Museum of Piraeus is recommended (Charilaou Trikoupi St 31). Here are displayed noteworthy funerary reliefs from the 5th and the 4th century BC and Hellenistic and Roman sculptures. Also on display are ceramics from the Classical period, bronze idols, miniature objects and coins. |
